Might as well die during football season as well. Look what happened to the almighty CD after the first round of the playoffs.

Actually, football season isn't even our most active time. We have many more visitors during basketball season.

And speaking of dying forums, this place more than dries up after football season. Why? Because the LPD is a football district.

In addition, both are high school sports forums. Guess what? High schools are closed in the summer. From August-November, this place is (or was until this year) hopping. Every school's students and supporters touting themselves. Happens on every forum at every level. This will be the year that good old Dorchester rises up and claims the Lonely Oak title.

But for just how long can you argue the merits of Dorchester vs. Glamorgan or Bondtown vs. Pine Camp? People grow tired of the monontony. People grow tired of the hurt feelings. People grow up and move on with their lives.

It is just a natural cycle of things. I know I've personally moved on from several forums that I used to basically live on. Life has changed and certain things aren't as important as they used to be.

As for me, I'm here because I enjoy the conversation with friends. I've made a lot of friends here (even more today). Yes, this forum is more active than my own. Not a big deal. Other than TS, Cwood, and RC, not many have much to brag about in the CD. I was glad to see those Ervinton CD champs shirts today, put a smile on my face.

WIthout an active membership, a forum will die. I've seen a lot of active members come and go on my forum. I hated to see some leave, others I was more than glad to show the door. If Rock has a problem with me, he can take it up with me. He doesn't need you whining.

I try to police myself and keep my demeanor within the bounds of the forum I am in. If I overstep those bounds and do not realize it, all it takes is a word from one of those in charge here. I've been on both sides of this world and know what a pain in the [censored] it is to run a place like this.

But in reality, I run this forum like I run the Tennesee Volunteer football team. Which is to say I have absolutely no control. I've never met Rock, met Counts and CCane for the first time today. I've known Al for a few years.

Yes, some do get away with a bit more than others. But that comes from knowing someone. If someone in charge knows someone, they are more inclined to give them a little slack. If someone fly-by-night joker comes in and starts stirring up trouble, he's gone ASAP. There is a double standard. Here and in life. Always has been, always will.

Now, for respect. It is something that is earned, not freely given. I know plenty of it. Much like I know very little to nothing about you, you know nothing about me. I do know that you made the All LPD football team in 81. [img]/LDPforum/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beer1.gif[/img]

I've got nothing against you personally and would have shaken your hand Sat. at CVC had I know who and were you were. Perhaps I just feel like arguing. Or maybe I just feel like ruffling some feathers.

I agree with that. And no im not an [censored] and i will stand my ground when i am called on it.
As i would expect you and others to do. I have and had a lot of friends who post on here. And when one leaves i have to wonder why.
The only thing i keep hearing is if your not in with a few. Your thoughts or opinions don't count, and if you disagree your basically nagged to death.
I'm sorry guys but some wanted to know what is wrong with the fourm, with some leaving, well that is what i hear, from those who have left.
And im not whining.
Im tired of seeing folks leave, to hear it's becaue of the chosen few.
Deal with the few or see what Jim created die or become stagnant and die out.
As you said. If i had met you today i would of shaken your hand and talked to you. That is just me. We may not always agree, but i won't nag you till you can't stand it. And that is what has been going on with some.
They can't voice their opinion at all.
One example was Sportsman. Anything he would say, some had some reply that well, was uncalled for. Or it was your opinion doesn't matter.
Everyone's opinion matters, if it didn't, why do we even have political elections. So people can express their opinion.
There is nothing wrong with doing a little policing, and checking a few IP's, see who is just being an [censored] and running some off.

New folks, old timers who ever, I have a lot more respect for anybody who will show their face. One thing about it, theres some on here who will not back down and there are some who hide behind a name. I'm going to be honest here and it's going to make people mad but this is the truth, for the most part the people from PV, CW, Coeburn, and Wise are not scared to let people know who they are. The rest of the folks on this board, well. I respect those people alot more, and get along with them. Anytime I see someone from one of those places that I met off here I talk to them, cant do that with the GC and Appy bunch. Why? They hide behind a name, I like you LPDFTBL but I've tried to meet you several times only for it to go bad same thing goes for the GC Folk. I'd gladly meet any of them anywhere. One thing's for sure at the end of the day everybody knows us.

I had no prob walking up to you and saying hello to you at that basketball tourney in Clintwood. I certainly fall into the category of will say it face to face. That philosophy has earned me my share of enemies, but even your enemies will grudgingly respect you if you deal directly. I have never made any secrets as to who I am on here.

I'm from Appy and believe me, I don't hide behind a name. You go to Appy and ask who Mik Mo is, you'll probably get the correct answer. I'm sure LPDFTBL is the same way. Just because a couple of meetings didn't turn out, no need to label him any way other than a respectable person.

I didn't say he wasn't respectable at all, lot of people I dont know on here are. Word gets around though, people have been trying to meet LPDFTBL, GCQuincy, Broady, and the bunch for years and they dont show. Just find it odd, I've even been beside Hunter316 a few times when those guys from GC walked by and talked to them they didn't even say a word about who they were. I just find it odd how some who are so opinionated (which I am as well) dont like to be known. Indian Dad and I may disagree, but at least we know who each other are, I can respect a man alot more for that. Like I said I like LPDFTBL but he like I am guilty of getting caught up in stuff sometimes, I remember when he told me there was no way I graduated with honors from high school just because I made a D in an advanced math class. I had to put my diploma on here to prove him wrong on that one. I admitt I never really think my view is wrong, however I do respect others views and try not to get really riled up unless it's an out and out lie. I see both points of views from the Norton side and his, just like when he said the stuff about PV a few days ago I stood up for my town, thats what the people from Norton are doing. Just my .02 cents.

And Kelly needs more alumni like you. How much you gonna donate to the Harris Sports Complex. One thing you need to do is get over yourself.

I'm not gonna suck up to any on here. When folks leave i ask them why and it's been over a certain few people.

As far as this forum. I like it but it's not what it use to be. No one has any respect for anyone or anything. And some well they get away with always attacking others. 3/4 of the folks who have left can verify that. They can't post as simple as that.

And yeah quite a few on here already knew me and my name. Some posters on here have even been to my house.

And PVFAN i don't know when we were to of met. I watched you and Biggin and others play games, while you attended PV. But i never remember saying a word about when we would meet up. And if i did. Well i work. Sometimes just like this year, i have been working late or working over. When you work, you don't tell folks when you will leave, or at least not till you get the job done.

As far as meeting folks on here. I've met many. Some i will just say it. I have no desire to meet. Their attitude on here let's me see enough of what they are about.

As far as class, well i show class to people who show class and respect to me. Other than that don't expect me to kiss your butt to get you to like me. It's not happening.

All i was talking about was doing some checking on some of these folks who constantly badger folks who try to post on here.
There was all this talk about why people leave the forum, long time posters, so i ask a few and got the answers. Now if no one wants to work on solving the problem that is your decision.
But at least now you know why, this forum keeps losing those who try to add some insight.

And again i may not tell all i know. But i do hint a bit about some things. Just like the sports complex and Nortons funding problems. Well i wasn't to far off was i.

And i don't hide behind a computer about anything. I was raised to be a man. Not pound on my chest and say i was. But to be one. Big difference when it counts.

I have been lucky enough to have met some good folks on here in person (you, Freddy, Shoe, LPDFTBL, spuds, Quincy, broady, burton 2019, Coeburn cane, alienist, juggernaut,burrhead (yes burrhead when I met him in person seemed like a nice enough fellow) among many others, and I can honestly say that I thought they all were good folks. Sometimes we get wrapped up or just misinterpret what typed words are.
